Game of War: Fire Age – Hero – What To Do When Your Hero Is Captured, Probably one of the most frustrating elements of Game of War: Fire Age is having your hero captured by an enemy. Especially when it is captured by an enemy that you have no realistic way of getting your hero back from. You can hope and pray that your hero is released before being executed. But really what options do you have? And in the meantime, is there anything you can even do?
First off, don’t freak out. It’s not the end of the world. You will get a hero back eventually one way or another. It definitely will be a setback for you though in the meantime. So be prepared to adjust your play style a little while you work your way through this problem.
If you weren’t paying attention or deleted the attack mails in your inbox, you can always find out who has your hero by clicking on the hero icon (which is now a prison cage icon) in the top left corner of your screen on your city map. Once you go to the hero screen it will tell you who your hero is captured by and the coordinates of that person. So if you wanted to, you could go hunt the player down or have someone else do it for you.
Pay attention to the time till release. The capturer can only hold your hero for so long, usually a few days, until they will either by forced to let your hero go or execute it. So prepare that you could potentially be without a hero for the duration of that time.
- Message Capturer
This is always a good option to start with if you think there is a possibility they will release your hero. In my experience, if the capturer is done fighting and hasn’t released your hero already, they’re probably not just going to give it up. Also, if they’re holding a lot of heroes at the same time, they’re probably not going to give it up. If you were going to ask the capturer to release your hero, I’d be polite but direct in doing so. You’ll be able to feel out pretty quick if it is going to happen or not.
- March & Rescue
I don’t consider this that great of an option. First of all, you just lost a defense to that person and they now have your hero. So you probably lost a lot of troops, have additional troops in the hospital, are low on resources, AND you don’t have your hero. The way this game works too is that most people pick on players smaller than themselves, so the person was probably already stronger than you to begin with. Just one of many reasons I don’t consider march and rescue that viable.
If your alliance has the power to, you could always attempt to mobilize a rescue of your hero if it seems reasonable that they could help you recover him. However, you’ll have to make that determination based on the strength of the player that captured your hero, the strength of their alliance, and the strength of your alliance.
- Bounty
I’m not a fan of bounties either. Odds are pretty good that since you just lost your hero you probably got most of your silver and other resources looted from you as well. In addition, I feel like the bounties have to be REALLY high for most players to start considering going after someone. Usually it is high bounties placed by multiple players all on the same enemy player. But even then, it rarely seems to be a big attraction to get other people to do your dirty work for you.
- The Recover and Wait Strategy
What I usually do when my hero is captured and not returned is I start trying to work on mitigating my losses. You probably just lost a bunch of troops, traps and resources. In addition, you probably have quite a few troops in the hospital waiting to be healed. So you’ve got work to do and there is no time to waste.
First, my primary focus is on healing the troops I have waiting in the hospital. That way I can get them out and gathering resources to continue growing. I also have some sort of defense if I am attacked again. I don’t even worry about rebuilding traps as that is an incredibly low priority to me. I also don’t worry too much about building new troops, at least until I get my hero back.
Second, remember that you will no longer have your hero’s bonuses. So if you were specialized for growth, with +’s to Construction, Research, and Food Production, then you won’t have those bonuses anymore. It will take significantly longer to build buildings, research new technologies, and you may be losing food depending on how many troops you have left alive.
Due to this, I tend to focus on building my low level Farms, Lumber Mills, Quarries, Mines, and Villas when I don’t have my hero (if he was specialized for growth). With research, I tend to focus on researching my lower level technologies that don’t take very long to complete. Doing both of these actions will take a lot longer than normal without a growth Hero, so I don’t want to start extremely long building or research timers without those bonuses.
Finally, many may disagree with me but this one reason why I consider the Gymnos the second most important building after my Stronghold. First, a high level Gymnos makes your hero level faster. The growth of your hero is a critical part of your gameplay. But more importantly, if your hero is executed and you have to make a new one, the higher level your Gymnos is the more experience your new hero will have upon creation. It makes a devastating blow to your city a little more tolerable.
Losing your hero sucks. There is no way around it. But it is part of the game and you just have to deal with it as best as you can. Sometimes you get lucky, they unexpectedly release your hero or someone else attacks them and frees your hero. But you can’t necessarily count on either of those things happening. There are ways to mitigate the damage of losing your hero if you plan ahead. It is an aspect of Game of War: Fire Age that makes it the game it is.
