Game of War: Fire Age – What Is The Purpose Of An Encampment?, In Game of War: Fire Age, one question that comes up a lot is, “What is the purpose of an encampment?” In the beginning of the game, I asked myself that question a lot. In all honesty, I personally don’t see a ton of use with the ability. I almost wonder if it is something that they’ve placed in the game because other similar games have done it. Or, if they are possibly going to use it for something else down the road. At any rate, here are a few uses for encampments in the game.
Buffering Your Cluster – If your alliance has a large cluster of players in an area, you can use encampments around the clusters as a buffer. This buffer help when an enemy player ports in and tries to attack your cluster. The bigger the “buffer” around your cluster, the more tiles your enemy’s troops have to travel over to get to you. This makes their attacks take longer since they are forced to port out further away and attack you.
Hiding Troops – There are better ways to hide troops, but one quick and simple option is to just send them away. If you need to hide your troops, pick an empty tile far away from your city and send your troops there. They will stay on that tile till you recall them back to your city. In my opinion, there are better ways to “hide” your troops, such as a Rally Defense (aka, Shield Rally), but this is an option.
Saving A Spot – Lets say your alliance has a large cluster of players in one area. All the players are neatly packed together for defensive purposes, intimidation factor, or whatever reason. You have you’re little spot right in the middle of the cluster. But you decide you’re going to port away to attack someone or to farm elsewhere for a while. However, you don’t want to lose your spot in case you decide to come back. Just put an encampment in your old spot once you leave. This will make it so no one else can take up that spot while you’re gone.
Sorry if you expected a lot more with this answer. Overall, I personally see very little use for encampments as the game stands now. It takes up one of your march slots which, to me, is a very high price to pay. If the developers change the game down the road and allow you to do more with encampments, such as stage troops closer to an enemy for an attack, then I will find them a lot more useful. But as it is right now, I generally don’t use them at all.
