Game of War: Fire Age – Building Setup (Part 2) – Inside Your City

Game of War: Fire Age – Building Setup (Part 2) – Inside Your City, Game of War: Fire Age – Building Setup (Part 2) – Inside Your CiThis is part two of my Game of War: Fire Age – Building Setup guide. On part one I focused on how I setup the outside of my city, which is the Farms, Mines, Quarries, Logging Camps, and Gold Mines. In part two I will tell you how I setup the inside of my city. This is basically the meat of your empire, which includes buildings like your Stronghold, Barracks, Hospitals, Villas, Walls, and many more buildings. There are a lot of different ways you could go about setting up the buildings on the inside of your city. So lets get to it!

On my high level accounts, my current setup is one of each “mandatory” building: Academy, Barracks, Embassy, Forge, Gymnos, Marketplace, Storehouse, Stronghold, Walls, and Watchtower. I have nine Hospitals, five Villas, and one of each of the “optional” buildings (Altar, Hall of War, and Prison). Below I’m going to talk about the importance of each building and how many you may want to have of each.

Academy – A mandatory and extremely valuable building. I typically try to keep the level of this building matched with my Stronghold. The reason why is because it will help you get your higher level troops and bonuses. You always want to be building something and researching something.

Altar (optional) – The most optional building of them all. This will most likely cost you a lot of real money to acquire and level up. It is extremely situational and only really provides bonuses once you’ve sacrificed a higher level hero. Unless you’re a high level player that dumps a lot of time and money into the game, this won’t be useful to you. You’ll be better served by putting a Hospital or Villa in its place. But if you’re an alliance leader or hardcore player, you may want to get this later in the game.

Barracks – For the most part, you can get away with just one or two of these. I typically have two at the earlier levels and then destroy one for some other building (a Hospital or Villa) at the later levels. There really isn’t much of a need to be able to queue up 10,000+ troops for training if you play daily.

Embassy – This building allows you to hold reinforcements from your alliance inside of your city. It will help you defend yourself if you’re being attacked. Or, it will help your alliance members by allowing them to hide their troops safely in your empire. This is a building that gets neglected and forgotten about a lot, but if your alliance is really active in attacking (or being attacked) you should make sure this building is high.

Forge – This building is usually a prerequisite for upgrading your Walls, so that makes it extremely important. Upgrading it does increase your crafting speed, but its most important function (in my opinion) is that you need it to improve your Walls. When I level up my Stronghold, the first thing I do is get one of each Farm, Mine, Quarry, and Logging Camp to the maximum level. The second thing I do is upgrade my Forge, so I can immediately upgrade my Walls afterward.

Gymnos – Quietly important, the main function of this building is helping your hero level faster. Your hero is a HUGE part of your empire, so this really will help you in the long run. On the rare occasion that your hero is killed, it will help your new hero come back with less of an experience loss the higher the level of this building.

Hall of War (optional) – This is an optional building. It will most likely require a lot of real money from you to level up high. It is important only if you are big on leading attacks for your alliance. If not, you can replace it with a Hospital or Villa.

Hospital – It is extremely important that you have enough Hospitals to cover your entire army. If you have 100,000 troops, your Hospitals should be able to cover all of them. Typically you will want approximately eight to twelve Hospitals in your empire. If you’re a high level player that attacks people a lot, you may even want more. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to have enough Hospitals at a high enough level to cover all of your troops. Just take my word for it and make it happen.

Marketplace – This allows you to trade resources with alliance mates. The higher it is, the more resources you can send per trade march and the less you are taxed. If you’re not a giving person, this building isn’t that important. If you’re alliance is big on helping each other out with resources, you should probably keep this high. Also, if you have a lot of alt accounts in the same alliance, you should keep this high so you can trade resources between accounts easier and be taxed less.

Prison (optional) – Same as the Altar and Hall of War, this is an optional building. It lets you capture enemy heroes from opponents with a Stronghold of Level 10 or higher. It allows you to kill enemy heroes from opponents with a Stronghold of Level 15 or higher. It also will allow you to build an Altar and lower the amount of time you have to hold a hero before you can sacrifice them. It is the most useful of the optional buildings, but will still cost you real money to raise to high levels. You may want to just get it at a lower level so you can simply capture and detain enemy heroes. If not, you can replace it with a Hospital or Villa.

Storehouse – This is really important for when you’re attacked. Try your hardest to keep this leveled up equally with your Stronghold. You’ll really appreciate it when someone decides to attack you a dozen times when you’re not online to defend yourself.

Stronghold – The centerpiece of your kingdom. In general, try to keep all important building equal in level to this building. At Level 10 your hero can be captured and at Level 15 your hero can be killed. The higher this building gets, the higher tier troops and traps you can build.

I, personally, try to get to a Level 20 Stronghold as fast as I reasonably can. I don’t see much reason in messing around at the lower levels. A weak Level 15 Stronghold with Tier 3 will beat the pants off of a “powerful” Level 11 Stronghold with Tier 2. I’ve never understood why people stick at certain levels and try to get all of their buildings levels to their maximum. Level up your important buildings and anything else that doesn’t take too long and then move on.

Villa – Silver is usually pretty hard to come by in this game. I think that three to six Villas is a good number to have as long as you keep them moderately leveled up. This will make sure that you always have decent supply of silver available. It is also the side benefit of increasing your troop training speed, so you can build your army faster. That’s a pretty powerful secondary ability!

Walls – You’ll only have one of these and it should always be max level. Keep it equal with your Stronghold because it will allow you to build lots of traps to defend your empire.  It usually is a requirement to have this maximized anyway to get to the next level of your Stronghold.

Watchtower – Critical for providing you good information on defending your empire and troops. Keep the level of this building maximized along with the current level of your Stronghold. Information is power and this little building gives you a lot of critical information.

So that’s my take on each building, their importance, and how many you should have of each. Like I said, I typically have one of each building, in addition to having nine Hospitals, and five Villas. The Altar, Hall of War, and Prison are optional, especially at the lower levels. But to get the full experience of the game, you’ll probably eventually want to add each of them as well.ty
